Voltage drop control is the main low voltage ride-through(LVRT)method for MMC-HVDC system connected wind farms
but it often causes wind farm overcurrent during transient state
which will not only increase the electric stress of wind turbine but also endanger the safe operation of MMC stations. In order to improve the transient characteristics and LVRT capabilities of the system
the LVRT process of MMC-HVDC systems connected DFIG-based wind farms is analyzed in detail
and an auxiliary power reduction control strategy is proposed for wind farms. The impacts of the controller parameters variations on power reduction rates and dynamic behaviors of DC voltage of MMC are also analyzed. Finally
case studies have conducted to verify the effectiveness of proposed schemes.
