The current restoration strategy for power systems with fast cut back(FCB)units is to restore units in sequence
in which the FCB units' ability of restoring surrounding power sources and loads has not been fully utilized. Compared with conventional hydropower units
the FCB function of thermal units cannot be implemented for all units. It is necessary to dynamically partition the power system with FCB units according to the number of energized units. Therefore
this paper proposes a dynamic partition strategy for the restoration of the power system with FCB units based on the conventional Girvan Newman(GN)algorithm. Firstly
by using Laplacian matrix eigenvalues of power network to identify the number of subsystems
an improved Girvan Newman(GN)algorithm is built to divide the blackout system. Meanwhile
the dividing speed and the balance between black-start units and loads in a subsystem are taken into account in network division. Finally
simulation results in the New England system and part of Jiangsu power system show that the method proposed is able to effectively partition the power system with FCB units.
