It is necessary to balance the wind power intermittent and generate the corresponding cost in the system dispatch. How to evaluate balancing cost is a complicated and important problem
especially for large-scale wind power integration. A balancing cost calculation method is proposed based on unit commitment optimization and load-following transform of wind power output. The model and algorithm are presented
and the economic principle of load-following transform is analyzed. Based on an actual power system
the method is simulated and different wind power integration levels and balancing costs are compared and analyzed.
