In view of the contradiction that conventional synchrophasor estimators can hardly meet the requirements on accuracy and rapidity simultaneously
a comprehensive and adaptive phasor algorithm based on Taylor series and discrete Fourier transform(DFT)is proposed. With two modes of calculation the time-domain and frequency-domain calculation designed for steady and dynamic conditions
respectively
a calibration based adaptive switching strategy is employed to shift between them according to actual conditions. Specifically
the time-domain algorithm calculates the phasor and frequency through DFT analysis and Taylor series of two data windows; the frequency-domain algorithm calculates the phasor
frequency and rate of frequency change by fundamental and harmonic content of one data window. Theoretical simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the accuracy and response performance of the proposed algorithm are superior to conventional estimators and the corresponding commercial phasor measurement unit(PMU).
