By organically combining the heat balance equation of cable with a power flow model
an electro-thermal power flow model considering the thermal property of cable is developed. With this model
an algorithm based on the Newton method is presented and an algorithm of fast decoupling solution is further presented by utilizing the characteristics of a high voltage power grid and thermal property of cable. The proposed model and the algorithm can bring the temperature of conductor
metal screen and jacket of cable into power flow calculation as novel state variables to determine the temperature trajectory in different anticipated operation scenarios of the power system. As an extension research of the electro-thermal coordination theory
the proposed model and algorithm are conducive to revealing and exploiting the potential transfer capability of cable in power system analysis and dispatch decision-making. This work is supported by National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) (No. 2013CB228205)
