In consideration of the energy storage configuration characteristics and the difficulty in accurately estimating the equivalent rotary inertia of the islanded microgrid
emergency load shedding strategies for islanded microgrid based on the super capacitor power monitoring and the rate of microgrid frequency change and feedback information are proposed
respectively. Simple and reliable though not global
the former makes full use of the power-type energy storage devices in the microgrid. The latter uses the feedback information after the first round load shedding to perform the supplementary load shedding. It is able to accurately determine the active power shortage of the islanded microgrid by estimating the equivalent rotary inertia of the islanded microgrid and effect emergency load shedding control. A microgrid model is developed with DIgSILENT/PowerFactory. Simulation results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed load shedding strategies.
