Restricted by the capacity of power electronics switches available,large-capacity direct current converter usually uses parallel connection of switches to expand its power rating. However, too many driver wires will increase the device failure rate and difficulty in maintenance. When device power rating changes, both the controller and driver circuit should be redesigned. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel parallel connected H bridges topology based on distributed control. The effects of synchronization errors on its current balance characteristics are analyzed. In this topology,a fiber ring net is used for the driver signal synchronization and distributed control. The effects of synchronization errors and dead zone width on the stable operation of the device are analyzed. The synchronization errors in distributed control and H bridge current-limiting inductor will determine the current sharing. The design basis of the H bridge current-limiting inductor is given.A prototype with H bridges in parallel connection has been built to verify the proposed analysis.
