In order to improve the utilization of the distributed generators(DGs)and power supply reliability, when the capacity of DGs is sufficient to support local partial loads,DGs are allowed to operate in the islanding mode and be reconnected to the distribution after the fault is isolated.A distributed protection scheme considering the dynamic islanding process is proposed. This scheme decides whether or not to allow the islanding and which protection strategy is to be used based on the capacity and location of the DGs,and achieves fault isolation and islanding automatically with the coordination of protective relaying and automatic devices.
