The wind turbine converter (WTC) is one of the key components for wind turbine. The filter of the grid-side converter
while ensuring good integrating characteristics
brings about resonant stability issues. For the actual resonance problems encountered in the development of wind power
the natural resonance point of system is confirmed and the resonant mechanism revealed by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of the grid-side converter filter. And a virtual variable damping control strategy is proposed to suppress the wind turbine resonance. A 2.0 MW permanent magnet synchronous generator wind turbine (PMSG-WT) is modeled in MATLAB/Simulink
and the resonant and suppressing process of PMSG-WT is emulated by simulation. A field test is carried out on the 2.0 MW PMSG-WT by grid harmonic generation equipment for the first time. The correctness of theoretical analysis and effectiveness of the resonance suppressing strategy is supported by simulation and experimental results
which is of guiding significance for resonance adjustment of running wind turbine and wind turbine converter design.
