This paper proposes a new research framework for operation adequacy of power systems with large-scale integration of intermittent renewable energy generation. The relationship between adequacy and stability of power systems is discussed
as is that between operation adequacy and installed capacity adequacy. The-state-of-the-art of research work on operation adequacy is reviewed
followed by the extraction of important factors and formalization description of the problem
as well as the expansion of the research scope and ideas. It is also emphasized that the power system adequacy should be guaranteed by the adequacy of related external links
