The Electric Power Control Centers（EPCC）workshop is devoted to discussing the power system control centerslatest technological developments while focusing on resolving major technical problems with respect to power system dispatch operation.A description is made of the 2013 meeting of the 12th session of EPCC;the contents of the meeting are grouped and summarized，and an overview is given to such topics as the energy management system（EMS），power system stability analysis and control，wide area measurement，application of renewable energy and flexible load，distribution control centers，and other key issues.Also，relevant theories and practices at home and abroad are compared and briefly analyzed.
