In order to reduce greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions, emissions trading and renewable energy sources development schemes have been or are going to be implemented in some developed countries and regions. The implementation of these two schemes would bring about some new problems in the electricity market operation. Given this background, an agent-based market simulation method is proposed for describing the gaming behavior of generation companies in the new electricity market environment so as to analyze the impact of the implementation of the two schemes on the operation of the electricity market. The replicator dynamic algorithm is adopted to simulate the bidding strategies of agents(generation companies) for profit maximization. The operation processes of a specific electricity market are simulated over the studied time horizon and some indices are employed to evaluate the market operation behavior. Finally, a numerical example is given for demonstrating the feasibility of the model and method developed, with the impact of the two schemes on the electricity market operation examined by comparing the indices under different scenarios.
