Combined with 1 000 kV AC transmission pilot project in China, a complete set of automatic generation control(AGC) strategies suitable for the UHV AC tie-line active power control is proposed. On the basis of the local balance of power flow of each provincial grid, the proposed control strategies can realize the mutual supports among the regional and provincial control areas in an emergency, and has been implemented in North China and Central China power grids as well as other lower-level provincial power grids, the results show that it has achieved the favorable control performances. Besides, considering the characteristics of the soon completed UHV synchronized North, Central and East China grid, preliminary technical research findings on the structure of each control area and the relevant AGC control strategies are provided for discussion.
