This paper describes the economic compensation problems which should be solved properly in the implementation process of energy-saving generation dispatch. The general principle and core idea of designing the economic compensation mechanism for energy-saving generation dispatch are proposed. Considering the fundamental realities in China， four different economic compensation mechanism and settlement modes based on administrative means are put forward， compared and studied， by taking the safe and stable operation， continuous and reliable power supply of power grid as the restrains， and the energy-saving， environmental-protection， economy and equity as the optimized goals.
