The full power back-to-back pulse-width modulation(PWM) converter can be used to connect the permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) with the power grid. The DC-link voltage of the back-to-back PWM converter will excessively fluctuate with the output power change of the generator when the wind speed changes, which has adverse effects on the safe operation of the converter power devices and the generation system. A coordinated control strategy of back-to-back PWM converter for the permanent magnet direct-driven wind turbine is proposed based on the operation characteristics of the PMSG system. The simulation and experimental results indicate the validity of the proposed control strategy. The method can effectively improve the stability of the DC-link voltage of the back-to-back PWM converter, enhancing the safety and stability of the generation system.
