This paper describes four main judgment methods for the generator loss of excitation protection. Owing to too long a delay time of the impedance second zone judgment and the under-voltage judgment， an auxiliary accelerated judgment method is proposed for the loss of excitation protection based on the generator power variation. Finally， the dynamic model test on a real digital protective relay is discussed.
