The influence of distributed capacitance and inductance error on traveling-wave differential current protection is studied. The transient high-frequency components of the differential current are analyzed. The quantitative relations of each components' amplitude of differential current versus the parameter errors, line length and system impedance are described. The EMTP simulation results are presented to validate the conclusion.
