Reliability of reverse-power relay is of immediate effect on the secure operation of large and medium generator-transformer units. The reverse-power relay is analyzed in various aspects， such as its features， accuracy requirement， error origins of measurement circuit and the causes of mal-operation. Some efficient measures are also brought forward to improve the reliability of reverse-power relay. Field experiment and successful application in large generator with the proposed measures are introduced in the paper.
