Abstract

It is important for the development and application of an algorithm to assess its error rationally. However

the method

which commonly adopts the statistical absolute value based on a great quantity of calculated examples to assess the algorithm accuracy

can neither reflect the nonlinearity of error influence nor the different influence of different error signs on many engineering problems. So

it leads to the difficulty in reflecting the practicality of the algorithm objectively on a few occasions. Therefore

the error risk index that multiples the error probability and the error cost is proposed to assist the development and selection of the algorithm. The risk calculation method by using the error risk index for algorithm error assessment is presented

and the transient stability analysis of the IEEE 39-bus system is employed as an example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed index in the threshold optimization of the rapid case filter.
