The existing distribution automation system cannot meet the requirements of operation and controlling of unit distribution networks. The relevant factors of safe and stable operation of the distribution network concerned by the dispatcher are considered. An operating and controlling function design and its application are present based on the unit distribution networks in the new-generation distribution automation system. the functions have been implemented for Suzhou and Zhenjiang power grid and so on. In addition

they are used to help dispatchers to analyze the operation and control of unit distribution networks.
