The lack of local accommodation capacity is one of the main reasons of the severe wind curtailment in the “Three-North Area” and other regions with abundant wind power resources of China. The combined wind-thermal power transmission through the ultra-high voltage direct current(UHVDC)system is an effective way for the large-scale wind power cross-border accommodation. The load characteristics of the receiving-end power grid are not fully considered in the conventional operation mode of DC channel using the constant power model. The power sources with combined wind-thermal power transmission by DC channel still have a large peak-shaving potential. According to the characteristic analysis of power output of the large wind farm group
this paper proposes a method of determining the minimum matching thermal power capacity based on the climbing amount accumulated curve of wind power output. And a wind-thermal DC scheduling model is developed to comprehensively consider the demand of wind power accommodation and the load changing trend of receiving-end power grid. The model is solved by CPLEX software
and the method is verified by simulation. The results show that
compared with the conventional scheduling model
this method can make full use of the peak-shaving potential of power source with combined wind-thermal power transmission by UHVDC system
and the peak-valley difference and the mean square deviation of the residual load are significantly reduced. The peak-shaving margin of the receiving-end power grid is effectively improved.
