This paper analyzes different damping coefficient control strategies and additional frequency regulation characteristics control strategy of photovoltaic virtual synchronous generators(PV-VSG). The differences between these two strategies
which is in frequency regulation start-up time
oscillation risk
mode of supporting power
inertia response dead zone and so on
are compared and studied. Based on field data
the actual frequency modulation effect and characteristics of the two different strategies are shown. To improve the system performance
a new control strategy is proposed to make the full use of power from PV-VSG and effectively coordinate the photovoltaic and energy storage to stabilize the grid frequency. The effectiveness of the control strategies is verified on a RT-LAB semi-physical simulation platform.
