The speed sensorless control for salient permanent magnet synchronous wind generators based on full-order sliding mode observer can improve the robustness by improving the sliding mode gain. However
the sliding mode chattering will be magnified if the gain is too large. In order to solve this problem
this paper proposes the concept of active back electromotive force (ABEMF). Furthermore
a full-order state and sliding mode observer is designed based on this concept. The characteristics of sliding mode chattering suppression and the robustness of the estimated rotor position for the estimated speed error are analyzed. Compared with the full-order sliding mode observer
the proposed full-order state and sliding mode observer can further improve the system robustness with the sliding mode chattering unchanged. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can realize stable sensorless operation and has good dynamic and steady-state characteristics. The robustness of the estimated rotor position for the estimated speed error is stronger.
