With intermittent energy connected to the power grid, such as wind, power support between different areas in the process of automatic generation control(AGC)is ever increasing. However,no area is willing to pay too much for its regulation costs, such as the wear and tear of units, the extra fuel consumption, the loss caused by the deviation from the operating point of economic dispatch, etc. The solution of this game and a convincing and stable plan for coordinated operation are the preconditions for accommodating intermittent energy by frequency control resources in all areas. This paper models and resolves the problem using the differential games theory to provide the noncooperative feedback Nash equilibrium. The simulation results on a two-area AGC system show that, unlike the proportional-integral(PI)control and optimal control, both areas voluntarily and faithfully implement the proposed coordinated control plan since an individual change of the strategy will lead to a decline in revenue.
