There are two major problems faced by doubly fed induction generator(DFIG): poor low voltage ride through(LVRT) capability and fluctuating output power. To solve these problems, a doubly fed induction wind power generation system integrated with superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES) and current source series grid side converter(CS-SGSC) is proposed. The proposed system can greatly enhance the output power quality of DFIG with the SMES as energy storage and buffering device; it can also protect the stator voltage of DFIG to enhance its LVRT capability. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology and its corresponding control strategies.
