Existing methods for fault location in distribution systems with distributed generators(DGs) cannot well address situations of incorrect or missing alarms. Given this background, a two-level model is developed for fault location in distribution systems with DGs. At the upper level, an analytic model is developed first based on telecommunication data, while the model at the lower level is based on telemetering data. The two-level model presented can not only diagnose the faulted sections, but also identify incorrect and missing alarms. Finally, a sample system is used to illustrate the essential features of the two-level model developed.
