A novel out-driving synchronous rectifier（SR） circuit combined with out-driving and self-driving characteristics is proposed. It can deal with the issues of dead time and common conduction time in the self-driving SR circuit for forward converter. Using the circuit， the forward converter is able to work within wide range of input voltages. The principle of the circuit is described， and absolute safe-time is calculated. Finally，a 80 W prototype of forward converter is built and tested.
