The main purpose of the HVDC reactive power control is to restrain the harmonic and compensate for reactive power consumption.Simulation tests on the reactive power control performance for Yinchuandong-Jiaodong±660kV HVDC project have been made.It is found that the over-voltage phenomenon is generated to some extent when the system is started or in emergency shutdown, especially when under the bipole normal load condition.By analyzing the reactive power control logic for the project, some corresponding improvement measures are proposed and verified.
