The generator set is the key equipment for the dynamic behavior of a power system. The effectiveness of its mathematical model and parameters will directly influence the dynamic simulation results of the system. Hence the validity of the generator set model is of particular importance. In recent years, hybrid dynamic simulation based on the data from PMU has provided a new idea for simulation model validation of power system components. An ideal voltage source method is used to achieve hybrid dynamic simulation of generator set. The numerical value similarity and shape similarity of measured and simulated curves, calculated using residual analysis and the related coefficient, is proposed for validity evaluation of simulation model. Then the similarity index is utilized to quantify model validity and calibrate models. Finally, the efficiency of the method is verified by case studies on the CSG generator set.
