Considering the actual domestic situation, the state power dispatching network(SPDnet) communication available and the development of distributed systems, a new feeder automation implementing method based on the autonomous system concept is proposed. With this method, the feeder automation system is divided into three levels with the functions of fault detection, isolation and recovery(FIDR) transferred to the mutually independent slave station levels. Each slave station acts independently as an agent and cooperates with others to perform the FDIR functions. This implementing mode can actively react to changes of the distribution network and reduce system configuration workload. Finally, the feasibility of the implementation is illustrated with the case study of a typical 3-source example.
