A new tracking optimization algorithm is proposed for ring topology of electrical networks. Based on ring network structure, the algorithm can be used to guide the calculation with effective power direction for topological decomposition and combination. Cascade topology and cross-bridge topology structure sub-graphs are discussed, and topology deadlock effect caused by interdependence relationship is revealed. Cross-component optimize tracking is introduced, and the relationship of tracking efficiency and tracking order is proposed. Then, algorithm process of leap-bound tracking is achieved by using sub-graph sentinel surveillance. Finally, topology tests of a practical power supply system show that the optimal tracking method has saved 234 ms in computational time as compared with the conventional whole network tracking approach. This shows a 74.76% improvement in computational efficiency. Simulation results of small-medium scale and medium-large scale system examples show that new method is efficient.
