A new method for online fault location based on the zero-sequence power direction is presented, in which the phase error of zero-sequence voltage and current on faulty line and healthy line is calculated. The GPS second pulse is used as the time base for phase acquisition while the phase information is transmitted via the general packet radio service(GPRS). The proposed method is proved effective by physical experiment.
