For the sake of determining the impact of small-world property on probability of occurring cascading failures in power systems, the cascading failures are simulated in several power systems among which some have small-world property and the others have stochastic network property. The result shows that power systems with either small-world property or stochastic network property will both indicate self-organized criticality under specific conditions, that is, the blackout sizes show a power law distribution.
