The resonance fault current limiter(RFCL) is a practical way to solve the problem of bulk fault current on the EHV. RFCL has the advantage to be able to adapt to complex operations of power grids. The resistance model is built from the main circuit of RFCL in the paper and the parameters affecting the resistance are analyzed. Furthermore, the resonance model is compared with compensated model. From the view of limited current, two parameters of restrain coefficient and resonance coefficient affect the value of the resistance. From the view of system, the negative compensation degree limits the device capability and delivering power under the RFCL fault mode. A large amount of simulation experiments are carried out. The parameters are successfully optimized and electrical strength of the damping circuit is decreased significantly. RFCL has good response to the short circuit current.
