his paper discusses the factors that influence the phase-advancement operation of large non-salient pole generator. It is found that the generator voltage will change in phase-advancement operation， which affects the boundary of steady-sate stability and loss of excitation impedance circle. This paper studies the principle to harmonize the setting of low-excitation limited set with loss of excitation protection. Finally， some suggestions are made via several examples of field applications.
